What role do local, contemporary artists play in museums? The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum presents a panel discussion that brings together voices from different sectors of the visual arts community. The panel will be moderated by Amanda Jirón-Murphy, gallery director at Hamiltonian Artists. Panelists include: Kiyomi Iwata, an artist featured in The Box Project: Uncommon Threads; Claudia Lamy, graduate student at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design; Jordan Martin, Washington Project for the Arts program assistant and founding editor of DIRT; Georgie Payne, Transformer exhibitions and programs manager, and founding editor of DIRT; and Brown Girls Museum Blog co-founder Ravon Ruffin.
