The Textile Society of America is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, dedicated to promoting and exchanging knowledge about textiles.
Who Are TSA’s Members?
The TSA unites a diverse, global community of textile professionals, including artists, scholars, curators, educators, scientists/researchers, and cultural practitioners. Our member-driven, biannual TSA Newsletter serves as a crucial platform for the international exchange and dissemination of textile knowledge and experiences. Members actively contribute to this community by submitting and writing articles; details on how to submit can be found here. TSA members are regularly highlighted in the “Member News” section of TSA News, and through “Member Monday” which features interviews and personal accounts of their ongoing projects.

Membership Fees
We’re excited to announce new membership tiers and benefits launching on January 30, 2026. TSA’s updated structure offers more flexibility, more ways to connect, and greater recognition for our community of textile professionals, scholars, and enthusiasts.
Highlights will include:
- Members-only access to the TSA Newsletter
- New ways to post events and opportunities (members only beginning Spring 2026)
- Tier-specific benefits such as complimentary virtual workshops and printed newsletters
- The Access Fund — support memberships for individuals facing financial barriers
Membership fuels TSA’s mission and keeps our programs vibrant, accessible, and globally connected. Explore the new tiers and find the right fit for you. We encourage members to use the auto-renewal feature in order to provide TSA with consistent support throughout our symposium cycle. Our membership system will securely store your payment information, and alert you via email when a renewal charge is coming.
Until January 30, 2026 when you join or renew, you may select from the following one-year membership fees:
$15 / $40 / $80 / $140
You may select the membership rate that is most appropriate for your financial circumstances, without having to demonstrate need or qualification. All membership fee levels receive the same benefits and access.
Your membership provides vital support to the organization. Without your ongoing participation, TSA could not carry out its mission to provide an international forum for the exchange and dissemination of textile knowledge from artistic, cultural, economic, historical, political, social, and technical perspectives.
We encourage members to use the auto-renewal feature in order to provide TSA with consistent support throughout our symposium cycle. Our membership system will securely store your payment information, and alert you via email when a renewal charge is coming.

Learn More About the Access Fund
TSA has launched the Access Fund to offer fully support memberships for individuals who face financial barriers to joining TSA.
This initiative replaces TSA’s previous Sliding Scale model, which allowed members to self-select a reduced membership rate. The Access Fund continues TSA’s commitment to accessibility by providing Individual memberships free of charge to those who request them, with funding provided by other members and donors. When you donate to TSA’s Access Fund, you help break down financial barriers to membership for individuals who might otherwise be unable to join. A gift to this Fund includes no individual membership benefits to the donor.
