About the Talk
Join the Textile Society of America (TSA) for a special virtual conversation celebrating the 2026 R. L. Shep Memorial Book Award winner, The Teachings of Mutton: A Coast Salish Woolly Dog (Harbour Publishing, 2025), by Liz Hammond-Kaarremaa and co-authors.
The R. L. Shep Memorial Book Award recognizes outstanding books that advance the understanding of global cultural heritage textiles. This program offers an opportunity to learn more about the award-winning publication and the knowledge, cultural heritage, and collaborative work it brings forward.
This event is free and open to all.
They will be joined by the 2026 R. L. Shep Memorial Book Award Committee—Dr. Julia Hendon, Dr. Kaja McGowan, and Dr. Florina Capistrano-Baker (Chair) and audience Q&A. Together, they will explore the book’s scholarship, its connection to Shep’s legacy, and the broader intersections of textile studies, cultural heritage, and art history. Learn more about past award winners.
Support TSA’s Work
The event is free, but making textile scholarship and community accessible requires ongoing support. Would you like to make a contribution of at least $10 to help TSA provide need-based fee waivers, support accessible virtual programming, and expand opportunities for participation? Every gift makes a difference, and donations are entirely optional.
