Weaving Workshop Weekend (WWW)
October 5th, 2024 9 AM – 1 PM CST
Weaving Workshop Weekend (WWW) gathers the digital weaving community over a condensed series of artist lectures and workshops on LMRM’s TC2 loom. WWW’s programs and accompanying exhibition will showcase the experimental practices of 4 artists whose work explores a variety of themes and weaving techniques. Join us for a morning of artist lectures by Cathryn Amidei, Danielle Andress, Jovencio de la Paz, and Poppy DeltaDawn, who will each present on topics related to their digital weaving practice.
Presented in LMRM’s gallery with works by each artist on view, lecture topics explore craft and community connection; larger social movements and simultaneous technological advancements brought on by Jacquard weaving; European and Indian traditions in mechanical Jacquard weaving and how it informs contemporary artist handweaving on the TC2; and exploring the loom as an extension of human memory.
$30 (virtual) and $50 (in person)
The accompanying exhibition is free to visit. An opening reception will occur on Oct 4, 6-9pm, as well as gallery hours after the lectures, from 1-4pm on Oct 5.
