Bio
Ana María Zamora Moreno. Zamora Moreno is an embroidery artist and educator based in Colombia. They studied biology and earned a doctoral degree in the Anthropology of Education from the Universidad de Los Andes. Zamora Moreno learned to embroider in México in 2015 and has since been working in rural education in Colombia using costureros as a methodology to embroider with communities and talk about biodiversity. Through collaborative embroidery workshops, Zamora Moreno sees memories emerge and connected through threads. She understands embroidery as a political act and collaborative embroidery as interdisciplinary acts that invite a transgression of gender, age, and pre-established roles. Al bordar el uso del tiempo encuentra su propio camino.
Zamora Moreno will be presenting Trama, nudo y texto: Puentes entre oralidad y bordado/ Weft, knot and text: Bridges between orality and embroidery during TSA’s 2023 Colloquium
