The Historic & Ancient Textiles affinity group has recently been proposed to bring together people engaged in research on heritage textiles, including those recovered archaeologically, held in the collection of a community, university or museum. We recognize the special challenges involved in the custody and study of these textile objects, especially at this time.

Original, Recreation or Reinterpretation?

As an interdisciplinary organization, the Textile Society of America’s mission is to provide “an international forum for the exchange and dissemination of information about textiles worldwide, from artistic, cultural, economic, historic, political, social, and technical perspectives.”
We invite members to form Affinity Groups linked by aspects of our professional and personal identities, in order to strengthen our work.
TSA Affinity Group Conversations. The purpose of this series is to provide a virtual space via Zoom for TSA members and other interested people to gather at a distance, to talk about the specific challenges in different sectors of the textiles field and share resources. This is an opportunity for TSA to help members of our field connect with each other while we wait to be able to gather in person, and to learn more about what resources we can provide moving forward. While we encourage participants to become members of TSA, membership is not required.
