Celebrate the opening of the 2021 Chicago Textile Week and Deep, Far, Home, a group exhibition of textile and multimedia artists with ties to the city. These contemporary artists’ works explore crisscrossing themes of deep time, primordial chaos, cosmic distance, and personal intimacy. Participating artists include Lucia Calderon Arrieta, Justin Chance, Diana Gabriel, Caroline Lee Liu, Olive Stefanski, and Vanessa Viruet. Curated by John Harness, formerly of The Condo Association.
Additionally, on display will be samples of the winning textile designs from the CTWxCarnegie Design Call will be on display throughout the exhibition.
Presented in conjunction with Deep, Far, Home, the exhibition will host a talk with the curator and performance by dancer and artist Irene Hsiao, who will respond to the work on Friday, Sept. 24.
