TEXTIM IV: Textile and Communality
The Textile Museum of Oaxaca (MTO) invites all people dedicated to the creation of textiles, their preservation, their study and its dissemination, to the 4th Meeting of Mesoamerican Textiles, which we will celebrate from October 16 to 20, 2024 in the city from Oaxaca, Mexico.
TEXTIM seeks to address ‘communality’ in a comprehensive manner, by valuing the contribution made by different branches of knowledge regarding the fabrics of the Mesoamerican area. Likewise, the Meeting aspires to recognize the traditions of other regions of the world that are linked to Mesoamerican textiles due to their materials, techniques or designs.
With these approaches, the conference association invites all people whose work is related to artisanal textiles (spinning, dyeing, weaving, embroidery, unraveling, cultivation of raw materials such as cotton or dyeing plants, etc.) to participate in the Meeting, as well as as well as professionals in archaeology, anthropology, biology, conservation, economics, ethnography, ethnohistory, geography, art history, materials research, linguistics, museography, museology, restoration, semiotics and sociology. People interested in the visual arts, performing arts, communication technologies and design, which revolve around the Mesoamerican fabric, will also be welcome.
