How You Will Contribute
As a member of a very active Installation & Packing department, this position requires the installation and deinstallation of a wide variety of art objects (all media) throughout the museum.
Specifically, you will:
- Install and deinstall art objects (all media) throughout the museum, the Rodin, and two park houses.
- Receive and unload crates.
- Transport objects to appropriate storage areas, galleries, or the Conservation department or Photography studios
- Work in the Packing Shop as needed:
- Construct and pack crates for art objects.
- Perform maintenance on shop tools.
- Travel offsite to retrieve crates from storage.
- Occasional site visit trips to evaluate art objects for later pick-up.
- May be times where team leadership of a project will be required.
Your background and experience include:
- Several years of art handling and installing experience as well as some woodworking and shop skills
- Technical ability to install art including knowledge of all types of hanging hardware and fasteners
- Clear communication skills
- Ability to use computer programs such as email, Word and photo editing software
- Ability to problem solve and work well under pressure
- Goal and deadline oriented, motivated, responsible and dependable
Position and Compensation Details:
- The salary for this position is $36,000.
- This position is full-time, non-exempt, and 35 hours per week.
- This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit.
- COVID-19 vaccination required.
