Open Call: Craft & Textile Immersion in Kyoto, Japan
We’re excited to announce an open call for partner organizations to join the Transformative Tourism Pilot Tour, a three-day immersive program visiting artisan studios and exploring the textile culture of the Tango region of Kyoto. Taking place in November 2026, the program is organized in partnership with MORI WO ORU, a Japan-based fashion project.
Tango is home to more than 1,300 years of silk-weaving tradition. Supported by the Japan Tourism Agency, this pilot program invites groups of creative practitioners to experience the region’s landscapes, craftsmanship, and cultural traditions—not simply as visitors, but as participants in a journey designed to inspire new perspectives on materials, making, and sustainability.
We are looking for organizations that can bring together a cohort of participants. This may include design studios, brands, companies, universities, research institutions, NPOs, professional associations, conference communities, membership organizations, or other creative networks. Whether you’re inviting your own team or opening the opportunity to members of your wider community, we’d love to hear from you.
The organizer will cover:
- Transportation from Kyoto Station to Tango
- Accommodation in Tango (2 nights)
- Guide and translation fees
- All program and experience fees
(Participants are responsible for visa application and international travel to and from Japan.)
Number of Groups:
2 to 3 organizations (3 to 8 participants per group)

September 10, 2026, 23:59 (JST / GMT+9)
Selected participants will be contacted by 15th of September in 2026.
