Oklahoma Humanities magazine has extended its deadline for article proposals exploring the Fall/Winter 2024 theme: FABRIC. We wear it, use it, create it, and even build with it. Material fabrics, made for millennia, provide clothing, comfort, and convenience and can transmit customs and cultures. Social fabrics provide frameworks and reflect communities, connections, and diversity. Using the humanities, send us your article ideas that reveal and explore the fabrics of our lives, in all their forms and functions. Some threads are meant to be pulled!
The magazine publishes educational and conversational articles (up to 2,500 words) for an adult, non-academic, general audience of approximately 12,000. Think PBS in print. Footnotes and endnotes don’t make the final print, but we do require them for fact-checking.
Send the following to Kimberly Roblin, Incoming Editor (May 2024), at kimberly@okhumanities.org : 1) Short paragraph synopsis of your proposal 2) CV or resume of your experience 3) Writing samples that reflect the tone and style of our magazine.
Please send your article proposal by December 21, 2023. The deadline for accepted articles will be April 10, 2024. Browse the magazine’s past issues at okhumanities.org.
