Oklahoma Humanities magazine, a free biannual publication, is accepting article proposals for its Fall/Winter 2024 issue exploring FABRIC. We wear it, use it, create it, and even build with it. Fabric is woven into everyday life. Material fabrics, made for millennia, provide clothing, comfort, and convenience and can transmit customs and cultures. Social fabrics provide frameworks and reflect communities, connections, and diversity. Both can fray, but be mended, and both are composites. Whether fibers or people, out of many, fabrics become one. Using the humanities, send us your article ideas that reveal and explore the fabrics of our lives, in all their forms and functions. Some threads are meant to be pulled!
We publish educational and conversational articles (up to 2,500 words) for an adult, non-academic, general audience of approximately 12,000. Think PBS in print. Footnotes and endnotes don’t make the final print, but we do require them for fact-checking. Send the following to Kimberly Roblin, Incoming Editor, at kimberly@okhumanities.org : 1) Short paragraph synopsis of your proposal 2) CV or resume of your experience 3) Writing samples that reflect the tone and style of our magazine.
If we accept your proposal, the deadline for your article will be April 10, 2024. Please send your article proposal by November 16, 2023. Browse our past issues at okhumanities.org. Oklahoma Humanities is the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
