Textiles at Kent State, a well-established program within the School of Art, is looking towards an even more dynamic future! To enhance and expand our depth of focus, an interdisciplinary strategy is currently being established between Art, Fashion and Costume. This connection will provide even more extensive opportunities for exploring all manner of innovative, digital and traditional textile processes, applications and contexts! New faculty member Elena Brebenel is our coordinator as we look towards an exciting evolution!
We are looking for a well-qualified student to join us and assume the position of graduate teaching assistant (GTA) in textiles in the fall of 2020. The successful candidate must meet regular graduate student admission requirements and have experience with weaving. The position provides an opportunity for the student to teach an introductory weaving course independently, using both frame and floor looms. In addition to teaching, the service commitment of a graduate assistant appointment in Textiles involves technical support responsibilities, for an average of 20 hours per week.
All assistantships include a stipend and full tuition waiver.
Please contact Janice Lessman-Moss, Head of Textiles (jlessman@kent.edu) for additional information and to confirm your interest in the position! Deadline for application for the MFA is February 2.
