Extermination is constantly knocking on our doors, and it’s clear that solidarity is in a crisis. In the face of uncertainty, the world has chosen to undermine, divide and conquer, rather than remember, listen, and empower. To think we can continue our daily lives without being affected is not only irresponsible but impossible. Therefore, envisioning justice could only happen in an anticolonial way; in other words, justice is only possible when seen with those who suffer violence and injustice. Over the years, Arquetopia has nurtured a community beyond borders, intersecting the lives and experiences of diverse artists, writers, and scholars. It has become a space where resistance, knowledge, and ethics continuously intersect with different kinds of artistic practices and experiences. We are committed to imagining a collective present, past, and future where everyone is invited to participate, and our collective well-being is not only considered but necessary. This is an invitation for all of our alumni from over the last 15 years to connect, share, learn, listen, and join us in a free virtual residency. Manifesto is a Virtual Artist Residency Program fully sponsored by the Arquetopia Foundation, an opportunity to take action by connecting our artistic practices through collective mentoring sessions, discussions, and critical readings. The program is taking place in cyberspace from December 2023 through February 2024. The deadline for applications is Friday, December 1, 2023. To apply, please contact us at intcommunity@arquetopia.org.
