The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco is seeking an Office Assistant, Textile Arts Council. This role provides clerical and logistical support for events, membership, and travel programs of the Textile Arts Council (TAC), a support group of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, created to advance the appreciation of the Museums’ textile and costume collections.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the TAC Treasurer or Chair, processes all cash receipts, deposits, transfers, purchase orders, reimbursements, and other payments. Promptly submits paperwork and payments to FAMSF Accounting.
- Serves as member liaison, responds to inquiries and routine office correspondence, processes memberships, prepares mailings, and maintains files and databases.
- Coordinates all logistics, reservations, and communications for TAC events, lectures, and study tours. Manages on-site events.
- Produces and distributes events calendar, events collateral, newsletters, monthly e-news coordination with FAMSF Marketing, and publications. Updates social media channels, media distribution lists, and TAC websites in coordination with webmaster.
- Supports TAC Board activities including, but not limited to: preparing materials for monthly Board meetings; distributing and archiving meeting minutes and other materials; distributing ballots and tallying results for annual Board member election; and assisting with Board member orientation.
- Serves as liaison between TAC Board and FAMSF departments as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma – Coursework at an accredited college or university preferred.
Work Experience: One to three years of experience as an administrative assistant, bookkeeper, office manager, and/or event coordinator
Skills and Abilities:
- Exceptional organization skills with attention to detail.
- Logistics coordination experience.
- Basic bookkeeping or accounting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team player.
- Required Computer skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word (including mail merge), and Outlook Google workspace/drive
- Database management
- Experience with FileMaker® (including exporting files to Excel®)
- Webpage management
- Eventbrite® experience
- Constant Contact ® experience

This is a part-time position, 18 hours per week, and is not eligible for benefits.
The workday schedule is Monday, Thursday, Friday, 6 hours per day, and nine Saturdays per year for 3 hours. The position is located at the de Young Museum and remote work is possible.
Hourly rate of pay is $24.00.
