In her latest exhibition, The Regency Wardrobe, British artist and TSA member Stephanie Smart transports us into the world of Regency Britain through intricately crafted period garments created with paper and thread. In this artist talk, Smart discusses her research, inspiration, and artistic process for creating her sculptural garments for her Maison de Papier and The Regency Wardrobe collections. Her stitched paper sculptures embody the stories of the people, places, and time periods she encountered at artist residencies at The Regency Town House and Danny House.
“The Regency Wardrobe” will be on display at Firle House throughout September and October 2021. If you cannot make the exhibition in person, Firle House is also offering a virtual tour at this link. Portions of the collection will then be shown at Chertsey Museum from 6th November 2021 – 26th February 2022 and at Worthing Museum from 17th April – 1st August 2022.
