Dear members of the Textile Society of America,
As your new Awards and Scholarships committee chairs, we write to introduce ourselves, to update you about upcoming opportunities, and—most importantly—to thank you for your patience! We have been working with board leadership to align our work with the greater goals and initiatives at the heart of TSA’s core values.
As two scholars with an educational focus and primary research interests centered in South Asia (Dr. Bandari) and Africa and Southwest Asia (Dr. Purdy), we care deeply about expanding and diversifying offerings and opportunities in awards and scholarships during our tenure on the TSA board. We look forward to working with all of you in these important endeavors to broaden the reach and support of TSA around the world.
Please stay tuned for more updates as details and application timelines for existing awards are established.
We are thrilled to announce the following opportunity available now:
Research Travel Grant applications due July 15
Applications are now open for two research travel grants (up to $1000 each) to support individual TSA members in travel for textiles-related research. The travel may be local, regional, and international of any type, but specifically for the purpose of in-person textiles study.
Thanks to the generosity of Elena Phipps, TSA President 2012-2014, and Alan Finkel, this award is made every other year. Please see the following link for further details: https://textilesocietyofamerica.org/programs/awards-scholarships/research-travel-grant. Applications are due July 15.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to move forward with these plans and processes over the coming months!
Vandana and Janet
