Registration is now open for TSA’s 2024 virtual Symposium, Shifts and Strands. Take advantage of early registration rates now!
TSA’s Symposium will take place through Whova, a digital platform and app with all the features you need to attend sessions, engage in discussion, and connect with other attendees. All events will take place on Zoom. The Symposium pages on Whova will be available for registered participants starting August 15.
Benefits of Registering
- Flexible access: Registered participants can access Symposium programs during the event and for 90 days afterward. Only registered participants have this privilege. Programs will not be publicly posted. Participants can easily create a personalized schedule of sessions to attend and download materials provided by presenters. Participants can even take notes right in the app.
- Share your research and interests: Participants can share their biographies, interests, affiliations, and other details on their profiles. They can share websites and links to online portfolios and publications, social media accounts, and upload resumés for others to see.
- Connect with others: Participants can use the app’s social networking features to interact with others, find other attendees with similar interests, message presenters and other participants, create or join discussions and virtual meetups, exchange contact information with other participants, respond to programs, and message event organizers.
Preliminary Program
You can now browse a preliminary program for the Symposium! This list includes keynotes, individual presentations, organized sessions, panel discussions, and more. A full schedule with dates and times will be available in September.
Be a Session Chair
Sessions feature three or four individual presentations, grouped together in a 90-minute session.
What does a session chair do?
The chair:
• Welcomes attendees to the session
• Briefly introduces the speakers
• Keeps the speakers to their allotted times
• Facilitates attendee questions for the presenters
Chairs will be assigned a session (or multiple sessions if desired) according to their subject preferences and areas of expertise.
TSA will provide training and detailed guidelines for our volunteer chairs.
Chairs are not responsible for any technical aspects of Zoom. Every session will have a technical moderator who will assist the chair and monitor the Zoom chat.
Chairs who are not registered for the Symposium can attend their session(s) for free.
Chairs should have some prior experience with presenting at a conference, or having previously chaired a conference session. Past participation at a TSA Symposium is not necessary.
Interested in chairing a session? Please complete the form below by August 25th, 2024.
Acknowledgments
