TSA Announces Colloquium: “(re)Generation: Fibers of Resilience & Renewal”
Join the Textile Society of America for a rich, virtual colloquium exploring regenerative justice in fiber art. We are excited to invite you to a special half-day online gathering on October 8 from 11 AM – 3 PM ET.
(re)Generation explores regenerative justice through the lens of textiles, fiber art, and material culture. More than a conversation about sustainability, this colloquium asks us to consider how environmental repair is inseparable from social repair. It challenges us to move beyond the question of “Who is included?” and instead ask: “Who is harmed?” and “How do we restore, renew, and regenerate together?”
What to expect:
- Keynotes
- The 2026 recipient of the Brandford/Elliott Award for Excellence in Fiber Art
- Warp-Speed Presentations from emerging voices
- TSA Member Meeting
- All sessions will be recorded, with freely accessible Proceedings
This event is the thematic capstone of a multi-year journey that began with identifying omissions in (re)claiming (2022), expanded through (re)Imagining Futures: Shifting Methodologies (2023), continued with the reassembling of histories in (re)membering (Spring 2026), and culminates in (re)Generation (Fall 2026), where the focus turns toward constructing more equitable and regenerative systems. Together, these programs trace an evolving inquiry into textiles as sites of memory, repair, and transformation.
We hope you will join us online.
A quick note on our plans: we originally hoped to host this event in person at the Textile Center. After careful reflection, we have made the difficult but responsible decision to pivot our plans to a virtual format. This format allows us to prioritize quality, keep registration affordable, and ensure accessibility for our national and international membership. It also reflects our commitment to learning from past events and being honest about our capacity.
Registration is now open. Early Bird pricing is available for TSA Members until June 30, 2026. Save the date, and watch for more details coming soon.
- Basic Classroom: $45 One shared link for in-class viewing, plus one shared post-event recording link.
- Premium Classroom: $75 for Individual access for up to 30 students, plus post-event recordings for all.
Partnerships help make this work possible. A limited number of sponsorships are now available to directly support critical components of the event, including livestreaming, captioning, speaker honoraria, and digital archiving, ensuring the broadest possible access and long-term impact.
